THE PATH

Early experiences with multiple reconstructive ear surgeries, along with growing up with a physician father, shaped my earliest understanding of medicine. They gave me a firsthand appreciation for how thoughtful, skilled care can influence not only the body, but one’s sense of self.

I initially pursued surgery. But during medical school, my understanding of healing began to shift. I became increasingly aware that many of the struggles patients face are rooted far beneath what is immediately visible.

Concerned with physical form, plastic surgery works at the surface. Psychiatry, by contrast, addresses the root.

To fully integrate that transition, I completed a preliminary year of surgical training before entering psychiatry residency in Chicago, where I later served as Chief Resident.

Today, my practice reflects that integration — medical precision applied to depth-oriented psychological work.

PROFESSIONAL FORMATION

After medical school at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, where I graduated in the top tier of my class, I completed a preliminary year of surgical training at the University of Kentucky Medical Center. That year provided rigorous training in medical precision, decision-making under pressure, and respect for anatomy and physiology at the highest level.

I then entered psychiatry residency at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Chicago, where I later served as Chief Resident. My training emphasized not only diagnostic accuracy and psychopharmacology, but also depth-oriented psychological care and systems-based thinking through Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry.

My academic research began at Scott & White Memorial Hospital in Temple, Texas, where my work was presented at the institution’s Undergraduate Research Symposium. I subsequently conducted research at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, studying nerve regeneration materials — work that has been widely cited in the medical literature. During medical school at UT Southwestern, I continued this investigative work within the Department of Plastic Surgery, contributing to multiple peer-reviewed publications in plastic and reconstructive surgery, including in the Aesthetic Surgery Journal. These experiences refined my understanding of the relationship between biological structure and functional recovery — a perspective that continues to inform the integrative, root-focused approach I bring to patient care.

Clinical Expertise

I am Board-Certified in General Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and have additional training in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry and Integrative Holistic Medicine.

My clinical work focuses on mood disorders, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, and integrative treatment approaches that consider the biological, psychological, and existential dimensions of well-being.

In addition to traditional evidence-based psychiatric treatment, my practice incorporates thoughtful use of non-medication interventions when appropriate, including neuromodulation approaches aimed at optimizing mood, sleep, and nervous system regulation.

who i work best with

My practice often serves high-functioning individuals who, despite external success, navigate complex internal struggles. They seek deeper clarity, emotional stability, and a more integrated sense of alignment.

I work particularly well with individuals ready to move beyond symptom suppression and engage in deeper, root-focused treatment — integrating insight, biology, and behavior through a collaborative, thoughtful process.
